Dedicated unit to help public sector address sector specific challenges including an increase in demand for services post-Covid, meeting sustainability targets and data security

Totalmobile, a leading Field Service Management Software (FSM) company, today introduced Chris Hornung as Managing Director of Public Sector business. Chris brings four years of experience at Totalmobile as Chief Operating Officer, and over twenty years of experience in the technology sector, working with companies such as Orange and Achilles Group Limited.

Public sector is the largest sector for the business by revenue. Chris will oversee the set up of the business unit and be responsible for many of the company’s longest-standing and largest customers.

Chris’s new role will see him coordinate product and service development specific to the public sector and its sub sectors: central government, local government, emergency services and health and social care. Having a greater focus on these areas will enable Totalmobile to create more streamlined and personalised services and products for their customers in the public sector, ultimately allowing them to deliver services in greater capacity and create an overall better experience for the end-users.

As Chief Operating Officer, Chris worked closely with Totalmobile’s public sector accounts and oversaw groundbreaking projects such as the field service project for the Office for National Statistics’ (ONS) first UK digital census in 2021. Prior to joining Totalmobile, Chris spent almost eight years at Achilles Group Limited as their Group Operations Director, and also gained six years of experience at Orange as the Director of Strategy Implementation.

Speaking on his new role, Chris said, “Even with recently announced Government support for some public sector services, it’s fair to say that the sector is being squeezed like never before. We want to be able to further optimise our services and products to help our customers tackle these challenges head-on. An ever-increasing demand for services, especially in the wake of COVID, means that different ways of thinking are needed. We can help organisations by increasing capacity and service provisions, allowing our customers to do more with the same resources”.

The reshuffle signifies a new era for Totalmobile, as they realign their business strategy to reflect the core markets in which they operate. Totalmobile CEO, Jim Darragh said, “We are now at the size and standing with our public sector business where we can dedicate a higher level of focus. The aim of this new approach is to provide more specialised and vertically differentiated products and services to our customers. Our new focus will allow our teams to focus on acquiring deep vertical knowledge as opposed to generic capabilities and become more aware of the challenges and opportunities facing their market”.
